As always, the goal of the COMM 12 weekly journal entries is to give you the opportunity to combine your observations, thoughts, and experiences with the course content provided online and in our textbook. What in the textbook, the module, or the online discussion stood out to you, and why? Feel free to reference more than one part of the course content. Do you have a personal reflection or thought about something relevant in real life? There is really no one right way to write a journal entry.

You can write your entry diary-style, analytical essay-style, poetically, or, really, any way you like. Remember, though, that these journal entries are academic submissions. Please do keep your language appropriate, make an effort toward spelling, grammar, and capitalization, and express your thoughts in generally well-considered manner.

Module 7 features speeches by U.S. Presidents Calvin Coolidge, John F. Kennedy, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Barack Obama. Consider the differences in presentation style, content, organization, word choice, and emotional emphasis. Think about the context of each speech, as well as the target audience(s).

In this module, you’ll find a link to Discussion #7. Please read and consider the prompt as well as your classmates’ comments, then add your own response. As usual, please be sure to also reply to at least 3 classmates’ posts.

The module also includes a link to this week’s Journal Entry. As always, please focus on at least one element of this week’s course content (from one or more parts of the textbook, module, or online discussion). Your write-up should include your own thoughts or experiences as relevant to the particular course content of your choice.

The entire module is worth five hours of online attendance, and should be completed within one week. The usual deadlines for Journal Entries and Online Discussions apply.
