Inaugural Address
What would it be like to write an inaugural address, if you were a newly re-elected president who was presiding over the end of a Civil War that had cost the country around 600,000 deaths during four agonizing years?
What would you say to your countrymen, and to all the regions of the country involved in the conflict, that would show your understanding of what had transpired, and would give your aims and purposes for the next four years?
Remember the time period of the civil war and the fact that the United States at the time)was split in two over one of the most controversial topics; slavery.
You have just been elected a second time in the midst of war and death of brother vs brother. Families are being ripped apart and the country is in civil unrest.
Using the Second Inaugural Adress from Abraham Lincoln as a guide, create a three paragraph address(speech) to the country in which you:
1. Attempt to unite both the Confederacy(The South) and the Union(The North)
2. Create a plan to end Slavery
3. Memorialize the deaths and end the destruction the war has created thus far.
