D. Bibliotherapy Assignment (20%): Students will visit their library and choose 5 children’s books on traumatic family events appropriate for ages 2-5. Each book will deal with one of the following topics: death of a family member, death of a pet, sickness of a family member, divorce, new baby or moving. Students will also explore the Parent Collection in the library and choose one book that you would suggest to a parent based on a specific event the family was facing.
For each the five children’s books and the parent book students will list the Title, Author and give a brief synopsis of each book.
Students will select one of the children’s books and write an Activity Plan and present the book to the class at a Zoom meeting. The parent book will also be shared.
For the presentation, the student will:
Read the book, ask appropriate questions as the book is read.
Describe the closure activity
Discuss why YOU chose this book
Briefly describe the highlights of the parent book and state why it would be recommended to a family.
I have attached the activity plan sheet. Develop an activity plan which will present the activity to a class of children from 2-5. Write it in the exact structure it is shown in.
The first 2 pages will be the brief synopsis on each 6 books, and 2 pages for the activity plan.
