Policy Brief on elected representative
In this assignment, you will assume the role of a policy analyst for an elected representative. Your task is to concisely describe the position held by your official for a particular issue/topic, the reasoning for the position (meaning the justification for it!), and how opponents may respond.
You have the freedom to select any elected official to “work for” in order to draft a policy brief. Meaning you could select Joe Biden, Gavin Newsom, or Mitt Romney, to name just a few. You also have the freedom to select any issue to write on. Useful websites for finding information on a representative’s position can be found under Course Documents on the Modules section of our shell. Please feel free to reach out to Dr. Caivano for assistance on choosing a topic.
To present your brief, please adhere to the following format:
State issue/topic
State position held (e.g. how Rep. Pelosi views the position)
Justification for position (i.e. is it based on economic or religious grounds?)
List any possible counter objections (i.e. how would opponents respond).
