1. What if you were the presiding judge of the juvenile court in your county and were giving a speech to a group of visiting local junior high school students. One of the students asked you why a juvenile delinquent in a juvenile court anywhere across this country is not entitled to be tried by a jury of his/her peers as guaranteed by the Sixth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, while the same juvenile would be entitled to other constitutional protections such as the reading of the Miranda Warnings, right to the assistance of counsel, and so on. How would you answer such a common sense and logical question?

2. What if you were in charge of deciding what philosophy would guide the running of your local juvenile court? What model would you use to guide the court? The criminal control model or the due process model. Be sure to provide support for your choice.
