We are going to write a narrative of California history from Creation to 1848. You must take a single groups, or your personal perspective. For example, Mexicano from perspective, Chicana from Coachella, or Cahuilla from Palm Springs, Hupa from Weitchpec, Archaeologists or Anthropologists, Western Historians or your own Peoples perspective. Is your view in line with others within your social group? What divergent and diverse evidence, stories, ideas about the history challenge your own, or others ideas, and especially our truths, our stories. You can use material that you have used before but make sure it tells a clear story from beginning to end. If its a Cahuilla perspective, answer the question what they were doing in 1769, 1821, 1845? Mexican perspective or Californio from Rancho San Francisco perspective during relevant times. Stick to our sources, add others to get more specific.

You must utilize at least 5 primary, original or archival sources (Patencio, The Six Peoplings, The Merits and Services of JRC, Tac, Maps, Fish hooks, etc.). Include sources from the time, or stories specifically about the time, events, peoples, traditions, perspectives you are trying to share, as found in our files, pages, lectures, and links this term. You must use at least 2 other secondary sources (Forbes, Cutter, Miranda, Almaguer, Osborne, Teran, etc.).

You must have a clear thesis, based upon the evidence.

This is a narrative, a story. You can use personal evidence, experiences, memories, oral stories, and sources but it must be cohesive, and take a specific perspective.
