This essay is a specialized type of argument
called a rhetorical analysis. Your primary task is to determine what the writer’s purpose
is, what writing strategies each author chooses to use, and why each author chooses to
use those strategies. It is necessary to discuss each writing in very detailed and specific terms, perhaps citing words or phrases from the text. This means to pay attention to the use of emotional, logical, and ethical appeal. Although your ultimate goal is to arrive at
an assessment of each text’s rhetorical effectiveness, you must also discuss the effect of
such strategies on a particular audience. This can be a political, historic, or government topic. You need to have two articles that focuses on that topic and evaluate them for rhetorical effectiveness
