Write a focused and well-developed paragraph in response to Writing Lecture #1 that addresses the following prompt:
Summarize the level of critical thought represented by each level of the thesis pyramid. Conclude by explaining how a level 3 thesis can result in the kind of interpretive argument required for our course. How might answering the “So what?” question in your thesis help you to achieve this goal?

Margaret Atwood’s satirical revision of The Odyssey is a post-modern, post-feminist response to Homer’s text and its influence upon western culture. Consider how Atwood’s book informs your reading of The Odyssey. How does Penelope’s version of events comment upon Homer’s original? What new ideas and considerations of Homer’s text has she encouraged for you? To what extent does she succeed at influencing your interpretation of Homer’s epic?
