There are many challenges that we face in our life on a daily basis and Natural hazards are one of the most challenging due to the fact of multiple threats associated with it. There are different types of Natural hazards but I am going to focus mostly on the ones that are common in

my city which are flooding and Hurricanes specifically Hurricane Katrina. Hurricanes are strong storms that are categorized with the level of strength, the higher the number The worst is the outcome; they can be life-threatening and cause serious hazards such as flooding, storm surge, high winds, and tornadoes. They are the same type of storm except their name changes based on where they occur. Typically the hurricane season occurs between June 1st to November 30th while sharply peaking from late August through September.

Goals and Objectives

Goal 1: Build knowledge on and evaluate infrastructure sector needs for community lifelines and critical functions supported outside our jurisdiction to promote prioritization of resources and effort.

Assessments

Mark high flooding areas and avoid building our infrastructure around it, we need to identify geographic regions and compare it to the risk management framework to find out if it is intended to complement and support completion of the threat and hazard identification and risk assessment.
Need an advanced type of technology such as weather Doppler and radars in addition to sophisticated pressure reader in form of beacon that are dropped at the eye of the hurricane from high altitude. The critical infrastructure with the most significant impact has to have the most priorities in regards to goals and resources.
Our understanding of criticality and associated independencies of infrastructure as stated by the NIPP are essential to the operation of these lifeline functions including communications, energy, transportation, and water and water waste management. Implement a memorandum of understanding and agreement (MOU) with local vendors.

Support the city’s infrastructure needs in times of crisis including rural power and water districts, city/county/state utilities, city/county road crews, county/state law enforcement, regional ambulance crews, regional hospitals, and regional emergency management offices.

Established with private utility or infrastructure stakeholders in the region with the capacity to support the city’s needs to include: private sector electrical and water, network/cyber experts, construction companies, transportation entities, food and beverage suppliers, insurance companies, and specialty services not on the city payroll such as medical transport.

Emergency purchasing
