Overview of Chosen Country’s Economy

PROJECT GUIDELINES: Students will be required to submit a written report. The guidelines for the paper are as follows:

Write your paper on the topic listed above. Choose a country of your interest. The paper must be typed and double spaced.
The text of the paper must be at least 4 pages long but no more than 6 pages long. The title page and bibliography do not count as part of the 4 to 6 pages. Make sure that your pages are numbered.
You must use headings within your paper to separate main points. The paper must include one paragraph of introduction and one paragraph of conclusion. In your conclusion, you must summarize the main points of your paper.
Your sources must include at least one book, at least two published periodicals and at least one other internet source. For internet sources you need to specify what person or organization is responsible for publishing the source on the internet. Each source must be quoted/cited in the body of our essay with a parenthetical reference e.g. (McConnell et al, p100) the bibliography should then contain the corresponding entry e.g. McConnell, C.R., Brue, S. L, & Flynn, S. M. (2009). Economics: Principles, problems, and policies (21st ed.). Boston: McGraw-Hill Irwin. When you use material from a source you must make clear where the material comes from, including page number.
Your paper must have acceptable grammar and spelling. If the presentation of your paper is unacceptable it will be returned to you and you must resubmit it in acceptable form.

Check list to help you in the preparation of your paper:

Does your paper include a specific government policy recommendation and it is clearly stated in the introduction?
Have you given evidence to support the facts you have mentioned?
Is the bibliography included
Is the paper concise
Have you considered diverse arguments that oppose your view and developed an answer to them?
Is the spelling correct
Does the paper have correct sentence structure and punctuation?
Is the paper organized in paragraphs and sections?

The purpose of this project is to give you an opportunity to become a better researcher and writer. You will be able to compare and understand many of the concepts that we exposed you about the US economy.

There are over 150 countries in the World. Select one of your choice for the report. Do not select the USA.

Pictures and general description (including location, size, population, type of government) are pertinent.
Tell us the reason why you are covering this country.
Give an overview of the most important industries and trade partners, major imports and exports, the standard of living of the country (real or purchasing power parity, GDP, unemployment, inflation, income inequality and poverty).
Provide basic economic analysis. Do not merely give statistics (figures) without describing their significance. For example, if you mention that the country’s poverty rate decreased last year, then you should say what you think caused this decrease.
You may make, if appropriate, statistical comparisons with well-known countries. You may include anything typical (socio-economic conditions, protectionism, the effect of climate, etc.) of the country you choose.
Compare it to the American economy.
Nothing political or religious should be discussed.
You will have to present to your class a brief summary of your findings.
This project is worth 15 points which is equivalent to 15% of your grade.

Submit a brief summary of your report before hand for approval and/or guidance.

Take note: Your final report should be sent to me via Blackboard on or before November 23, 2020. No email reports will be accepted.
