Dr. Viktor E. Frankl’s book Man’s Search For Meaning explains what the prisoners experienced mentally in these Nazi camps through his own traumatic experience. In addition, he illustrates the acknowledgement he discovers of survival. Which is finding meaning in onces life, in order to keep on fighting everyday to live. He then goes on sharing his discovery with cell mates for motivation to realize life is worth living, regardless of the circumstances.
According to Dr. Frankl there are three different ways in which we can discover the meaning of life. “(1) by creating a work or doing a deed; (2) by experiencing something or encountering someone; and (3) by the attitude we take toward unavoidable suffering” (Frankl, 115). He explains that we must find the meaning of life even in a situation that we may consider hopeless. The most important choice that Frankl probably took was to help those who were having suicidal thoughts. I believe that this is the most important choice he made because it helped him see that those who recognized that there was still a future for them and those who were still searching for meaning were more likely to survive. This observation is important because it helped him come up with his theory on Logotherapy and how different people have different motivations that keep them going. The choice that he made of trying to find the meaning of life under bad circumstances can actually still be very helpful to many. During this pandemic, many have lost jobs, family members, and basically their normal lifestyle. In these unprecedented times, it is important for us to know that there is hope. Frankl’s experience taught us that our main motivation for living is our will to find meaning in life, therefore we need to keep our head up and focus on what we have to look forward to once all of this is over.

This video explains that as cases are going up we are not only being affected by the virus physically but also emotionally. They state that 75,000 deaths are projected due to the situation we are all being put through by this global pandemic (Bob Lahita). Those deaths, however, are not because the virus is killing their bodies rather their mental health is being put at risk which can lead to lots of deaths caused by self-harm and overdose. They mention that since the pandemic started we have all felt overwhelmed by the idea that our life has changed so much, but some are being affected more than others. The research study shown in the video explains that men are at higher risk of committing suicide since they have lost their jobs and could tend to feel as if they are not good enough to provide for their families.

The article informs us that the use of social media is greatly affecting teens and it can lead to self-harm and suicide.
