Ethics- Background about Christianity

In this section, you need to present the claim for Christianity: 2,000 years ago God the Son came to the earth to reveal the Father to us and then to die to save us from our sins; the resurrection is the evidence which supports this claim. You will need to explain several items in this section on the claim of Christianity: (In the paper do not present them as a numbered list.)
1. Why is Jesus here called God the Son?
2. Why made Jesus qualified as the Son to reveal the Father to us?
3. What is meant by salvation? (Focus on transformation.)
4. Why is Christ’s resurrection important to the claim that Jesus is God the Son?
Evidence and Logical Support for Christianity
In this section, you will need to present in depth logical, philosophical evidence for Christianity, especially evidence that the resurrection of Jesus actually occurred: (In the paper do not present them as a numbered list.)
1. The empty tomb
a. Explain why the empty tomb is negative evidence.
b. Alternate explanations of the empty tomb and the reason they are untenable.
2. The eyewitnesses who claimed they saw the resurrected Jesus.
a. Present the official list
b. Also mention the women who were not a part of the official list.
3. The credibility of the eyewitnesses
a. They suffered for their claim—how does this support their claim?
b. They were Jews—why is this important?
c. Women are listed—why is that important?
Response to Challenges to Christianity
Present and respond to the following challenges for Christianity:
1. Did Jesus even ever really exist?
a. He isn’t mentioned outside the NT (or was He?)
b. The attacks of the early opponents of Jesus verify that He lived.
c. The Jesus of the Gospels is not the kind of Jesus a Jew would have made up.
2. Evil and suffering: how can a loving God promoted by Christianity allow evil and suffering in the world?
3. The Document challenge:
a. The New Testament is contradictory in nature.
b. The NT was written decades after the events it describes.
4. The Mythological challenge: Christianity is based upon mythology
a. An example of a myth actually being based upon Christianity and not vice versa: the so-called Horus myth.
b. Lewis’ view on myth and the view that Christianity is the basis of most of the myths.
If you do not address all the challenges your system faces, you will not receive an A for the paper and an A for the course.
Euthanasia
Finally, explain how the system you have chosen would address the topic of euthanasia. Would it approve of euthanasia or not? If so, in which circumstances? Make sure to detail reasons for your responses. Why does this system approve or disapprove of euthanasia?
