Extra Credit

Option #1 – Career Cruising (25 points)
CareerCruising.com is the user friendly career research tool used by many counselors. Visit the website, complete the interest assessment, and explore at least three careers on your suggested list of careers from the interest assessment.

1) Go to the website http://www.careercruising.com (Links to an external site.). Log in using the following username and password:

Username: grossmont
Password: college

2) Click on the Assessments tab at the top of the screen, click on Matchmaker and My Skills, and open an account by clicking on Create My Plan.

3) Then, click on Explore My Interests and take the Career Matchmaker assessment by clicking on Start Matchmaker.

4) After you complete your assessment, a list of suggested careers will appear. Click on at least THREE of your suggested careers and read the information about each career by clicking on the nine links located on the left side of the screen. Be sure to click on Education to see what majors are suggested and the schools that offer the suggested majors. I also recommend viewing the Photos and Interviews.

5) Then, provide complete and well thought out answers to the following three questions:

-What did you think about your assessment results?

-What three careers did you explore and will you pursue any of them? Why or why not?

-What type of information did you find most helpful from the assessment/website?

Option #2 – Career Coach (25 points)
Career Coach is a self-paced, online career guidance tool. It can help you explore your interests, personality, skills, and values, and their relation to possible majors and careers.

Go to the Career Coach website at https://ccc.emsicc.com (Links to an external site.). Take the Career Assessment (you can do the 6 question or 60 questions assessment). Then, read about your top three traits. Then, scroll down to click on at least 2 of your top career matches and explore the careers listed.

You will need to write a half page summary about your assessment experience and your results. Please include your thoughts and findings about at least 3 of the careers you explored. Submit your paper as an attachment or type your answer directly into the submission box.

Option #3 – Study Skills Video (25 points)
View one of the following videos and write a half page summary about what you learned and how you will use the information. Be sure to include the name of the video you chose to view. If you are accessing this video off campus, use your firstname.lastname and 6-digit birthdate to log in.

Option #4 – Roadtrip Nation (25 points)
Roadtrip Nation is a reality television show that takes three college students on the road to interview people that have the jobs they want. The informational interviews and episodes are posted on the Roadtrip Nation website. Please visit https://roadtripnation.com/ (Links to an external site.), listen to an interview or watch an episode of Roadtrip Nation, and write a summary of your findings. And, take time to explore the website to see what this movement is all about. It is truly an inspiration and maybe you will consider applying for a Roadtrip to represent Grossmont College! Follow the steps below to complete your Extra Credit:

1) Go to the website https://roadtripnation.com/ (Links to an external site.).

2) Click on Interviews to choose an interview to watch or click on Our Show to view an episode of Roadtrip Nation.

3) After you finish viewing your selection, provide a summary of what you learned and how you will use the information. Be sure to include the name of what you watched. Your summary needs to be at least a half a page to earn full credit.
