You will create your own frame narrative to be shared with the class. You must come up with a frame, or a modern scenario that would find your characters placed in a storytelling situation together. (Some recent examples I’ve seen from students: people standing in line at a concert, survivors of the zombie apocalypse finding one another in a building under siege, people stranded in a boat after their cruise ship sank, and a group of prisoners trapped in a holding cell together). The frame introduction, or prologue, should be approximately two paragraphs.
You will then include a minimum of three stories. The individual story can be as long as it needs to be to tell a complete, well-developed story. Between each individual story, there should be some sort of continuation of the frame (such as dialogue between the characters, reactions to the preceding story, prologue to the upcoming story, etc.).
Important: you will write one complete story, and include a very short description of the other stories. For instance, in the plan below, Story 1 and 3 might be a 3-5 sentence description of what the character would be, the situation of the story, and the structure of feeling it explores, while Story 2 would be the fully written story.
So your frame narrative will include:
Both the frame and the individual stories should be typed and double-spaced, but other than that the formatting is up to you. The frame and all stories should be combined into a single document. Use section/story headers or titles, and under each story title.
This is what my frame narrative is based off. It will be 4 stories instead of 3 .
1) I want to tell a story on the backgrounds of these 4 amazing female athletes who came together has one in the end to win the Olympics 4×400 relay team. Each character has a background on how they got to that point. They all will have stories to tell on how they came to be one.
2) Macmill- went from being one of the best distance runners in the state to a sprinter, and she is going to tell what the transition was like ( She always got being picked on for being the tiniest girl on the line but yet she always find a way to beat everybody or be top 3 in each race.)
Na’asha -she Will tell you how she had to go through 3 different colleges to get the training she desired and how hard it was to find the right coach ( She graduated high school at the age of 17 and is determined to find the best coach there is)
Usani – Will tell her story as a kid growing up the talent she got recognized for and how important it was for her to make it big for her village ( She came from a poor village, they barely got sought out for sports)
Madison- how she went from one of the most talented female basketball players to now one of the fastest women there is in track. ( Tall talented basketball player)
