Select a health outcome and analyze the outcome for its determinants and contributing factors, using the method described in Chapter 2 of the Essentials of PH text (p.34-36).
Identify and describe the health problem (outcome) you selected. What is the prevalence (percentage) of this health outcome in the population? Is a specific population more greatly affected with this outcome than another (e.g. male/female; American Indian/White non-Hispanic)? Describe briefly.
Then, identify at least one major determinant (e.g risk factor) for the health outcome
For the determinant, identify one direct contributing factor (e.g. affects the risk factor)
For the direct contributing factor, identify at one indirect contributing factor (e.g. community-specific factor that affects the determinant)
Use Table 2-4 here and the Health Problem Analysis Worksheet to assist you
Lastly, review the occupations in Ch.5 and Ch. 16 in the 101 Careers in PH text. Select one you think could potentially influence health problems in the population and tell us why you believe this.
You are required to use at least THREE sources from government reports, peer-reviewed journal articles or textbooks. You can use the course textbook.
Use your OWN WORDS (e.g., do not cut and paste from a government report or article).
Paraphrase (use your own words) to report the information.
Include APA formatted in-text citations to identify your sources AND include full APA formatted references for your sources at the end of your post.
