Isle of Dogs Propaganda Video Analysis

Analysis (6/10): I really appreciate the level of research you put into this. It’s clear that you’ve put a lot of effort and time into thinking about your analysis. I particularly enjoyed reading your thoughts about the emotional appeal of the dog family and its impact on the viewing audience. That being said, for future assignments, I strongly encourage you to emphasize course material (readings, lectures, slides) in your analyses. This will strength your argument and, I think, provide greater clarity with regards to the arguments you are making here. You do a bit of this when you reference visual propaganda.

The paper also makes a number of blanket statements without provide sources to support them. For example, “Those who watched the movie initially gave it great reviews claiming their capability to understand the challenges the canine family was undergoing and the need for redemption” How do you know this? Where did you learn this?

Conclusion (5/8): We were looking for a bit more expression of your personal opinion and some reflection on your opinions regarding the film and propaganda and the effects of the campaign. I would have also liked read about what you most enjoyed about the film/thought was successful or unsuccessful.

Writing (1.5/2): Your use of jargon makes the analysis come off as a bit vague and confusing/hard to follow at times. For example, when you state: “The plot is evident in the approach taken by the government to reduce the dog population through the introduction of the canine flu.” I think it would have been more beneficial to write very simply about the plot of the film.
