You will decide on a movie that has at least one character that suffers from a psychological disorder. You will use information from the PowerPoint and your readings on psychological disorders and apply that to the character. There are many characters in movies that act “crazy”. This assignment requires you to psychologically assess a “crazy” character using information from the course.
Discuss the character you picked, the disorder they had, and what treatments they can seek. Focus on the psychological disorder and treatments, not the plot and character.
You are to watch the actual movie. Do not just review movie blogs, summaries etc. You are encouraged to use your textbook along with other books, recent journal articles, and internet websites to research information for your movie analysis project (i.e. less than 10 years). Not every internet website is reputable or trustworthy, so please be careful if you are unsure about using a particular internet site or resource for this project. Second, you will need to indicate what specific psychological disorder you believe the character is suffering from in the movie. Third, find the symptoms as identified by the DSM-V which qualifies your character to have that psychological disorder. Some characters may display symptoms of more than one psychological disorder. Be clear about this information within your paper. Fourth, identify treatment that is currently available for the disorder. You are encouraged to look beyond your assigned textbook to identify any new treatments that may be successful in treating a particular psychological disorder. Fifth, Summation/Conclusion – Summarizing and finalizing what was discussed in the research paper. Reference Page – Typing the name of the resources you used to develop your research paper.
