Persuasive Speech Outline
Assignment Requirements
Directions: This speech will follow the basic structure of past speeches, but this one will be a little more flexible. If you would like to use the outline format from previous chapters, feel free. You can also use the simplified format here also. The speech submitted should not be vague but well developed for a 10 minute speech.
1) TOPIC AND PURPOSE: Your chosen topic and the purpose of your speech (Remember that your purpose has to be persuasive).

Your attention getter or hook, the reason why you are a credible to talk about this subject matter/issue/topic, and your thesis/preview statement.

THESIS STATEMENT/PREVIEW STATEMENT:

3) BODY: 3 main persuasive points from your research developed into 3 distinct paragraphs. I should be able to see how you use your facts/research to persuade your audience about your topic.
**Make sure you use a combination of ethos, pathos, and logos in the body of your speech. See Chapter #10 in Moodle to read about this information and how to incorporate this into your speech.

4) CONCLUSION: Wrap up of your main points again and your “call to action” for your audience. The “call to action” urges the audience to reconsider an issue or topic or act upon something that they have been told.

6) VISUAL TO USE WITH YOUR SPEECH: Think about how you would communicate your speech by using visuals. This can be through a PowerPoint, excerpt from a video, a picture, a poster, etc. Think how visuals can help you persuade your audience. Explain what visuals you will use with your speech and why you plan to use these. You will need at least two visuals (two photos, two videos, a powerpoint/prezi containing two visuals, etc.) to use during your presentation and to enhance your presentation. You should create something that helps you to reach your audience and define/help your argument.
