You are part of a group of health policymakers who are supporters of one of the following healthcare financing models:
1. Social insurance.
You have been asked by the health minister of a middle-income country to provide a written overview of the strengths and weakness from an economic perspective of your chosen healthcare financing model and why this model is appropriate for a middle-income country in approximately 1,000 words. Your group has then been invited to take part in an online debate where you will debate the pros and cons of your chosen model with other groups of experts who have chosen to support the other healthcare financing models. You will need to make a case for why your particular model is appropriate for a middle-income country. The health minister (role played by your tutor) will be listening to your debate so that she can become informed about the pros and cons of health care financing models in relation to middle income countries.
You will be allocated to one of the three healthcare financing groups above. As a group, you will undertake your research on that particular healthcare financing model and write your group 1,000 word paper during unit 3 and 4 of the module. Your group paper should be approximately 1,000 words and referenced according to Harvard referencing. This is a group paper and all members of your group should take part.
