Reflections
Every class posting will have a reflection question posted with that week’s material. Reflection is an essential part of all learning, but it is especially important for online and remote learning. It is how you integrate the ideas we’re exploring into your own vision and perspective. Accordingly, your reflections count toward your mark.
There will be 12 reflection questions, 1/week, and you must respond to all 12 of them to be considered for full credit. As with any written assignment, you are evaluated on the depth of insight and consideration you bring to your reflections. Each response should be at least 350 words. You are not required to cite other scholars in your reflections, but you may cite others if you choose, in which case you must cite them properly with APA.
As with any written assignment, try to be specific when you are writing your reflections. They require proper formatting and grammar. Just because you are writing with a more personal tone, you are still applying the guidelines of critical thinking, i.e. focused and developed discussion that avoids broad generalizing. They are not intended to be stream of consciousness meanderings.
If you would like to sometimes reflect in alternative mediums, i.e. poetry, images, flash fiction, because you feel it’s a way for you to better integrate the material, you are welcome to do so. Email instructor with questions/queries for creative formats for reflections.
