Write a response to the one of the three essays which we read together–”Is Google Making Us Stupid?”, “Hillbilly Elegy”, or “Are Too Many People Going to College?”.

In the essay, you will respond to the ideas and claims in the selected reading. You will make clear whether you are agreeing with what the author is saying, disagreeing with it, or both. In all these cases, you will need to establish why you respond in this way. Try to emphasize the ways in which what you say differs from what “they say”.

Make sure you do the following:

Introduce the topics to be analyzed accurately and early in your essay.
Develop a thesis that states how you will examine and respond to specific ideas.
Organize your personal response in a way that it will be easy for the audience to follow.
Assist the audience by using words, phrases, and sentences that show relationships and shifts.
State the significance of your response at the place in the essay where it will be most effective.

In this essay, you will summarize and quote the reading in order to provide context for your response and evidence for your claim.

Refer to the templates in Chapters 1-3 to convey what the author says.
Refer to Chapters 4-5 to respond to it.

Your response should be around 750 words (+/- 50 words).

Document requirements:

You must turn in your essay as a Word document with your name and the assignment title in the document title.
