retirement plans vs tradition saving

the pros and cons of the standard retirement plans usually offered by companies to their employees vs saving/investing your own money for your future. Include insurance benefits like cheaper medical, prescriptions, and so on. Also mention the risk of losing your money and what you could do to possibly prevent that.

This is the given instructions:Paper instructions
Each student will produce a paper on any topic in the text. The topic must be approved by noon on the 21st of February. The paper is due on the first day of the final exam period. (check, I believe it is May 5)

Selecting a topic
The best way to select the topic in this class is to scan the table-of-contents. See if any topics are of interest to you. Try to identify more than 1- preferably 3 topic areas. Then do some reading so that you understand, generally, a bit more about each topic. Finally, contact the instructor to have a WebEx/phone discussion where your topic can be approved.

In preparation for the conversation with the instructor, I suggest that you read the following abstract on retirement security in an aging population as an example of a synopsis you should be ready to provide about the topic you prefer. (note: the abstract is constructed after a paper is completed so it is understood that the abstract you provde will not be complete – nor will it likely be the one provided in the ultimate paper.)

Writing and Presentation
One way to select the topic, for this class, is to scan the table-of-contents and determine whether any topics are of interest to you.

After identifying and obtaining approval for the topic, try to follow an article writing guide (one example is How to Write a Paper for Publication , The point of any of these guides is similar. Make sure that you use a linear approach. Later in your career you can be as flowery as you like. For this point, identify A, then B, and so on.

It may help to understand how a reviewer approaches reading the paper. This is an article that I believe presents a good overview of a good review (which is basically the grading process). You can find the article online.

Maier H.R. (2013) What constitutes a good literature review and why does its quality matter?,Environmental Modelling and Software, 43, 3‐4, DOI: 10.1016/j.envsoft.2013.02.004.
Paper Format
The paper should be between 12 and 18 pages. The paper should use a 12 point Times New Roman font. Paragraph style should be: alignment justified; line spacing 1.5 lines. Page margins should be 1″ top, bottom, right and left.

The following rubric is used to evaluate paper submissions. In general, Expert, Proficient, Apprentice, and Novice correspond to grades of A, B, C, and F, respectively. ResearchPaperRubric
