Ask yourself if you agree or disagree with all or part of the writer’s argument and why. Ask yourself which parts you find especially convincing or which parts you most object to. In writing your paper, first identify the title and author of the article and the author’s central claim. It is strongly suggested that you utilize the sentence frame found on the Rhetorical Analysisstudy guide in writing this first sentence of your paper. Also in the first paragraph, summarize the author’s argument, including the evidence she/he presents to support her/his argument.Toward the end of the introduction paragraph, provide a clear thesis statement that summarizes your own evaluation of the author’s argument, articulating what you did and/or did not find convincing about it and what you will discuss in your essay with regard to the author’s argument.In at least fiveadditional paragraphs, select at least three separate strategies employed by the author to focus on in your paper.Clearly explain how the author uses each strategy you select. Provide examples, including quotes and paraphrases from the text. Devote at leastone paragraphto each strategy, and make the organization of your paper clear.At this point in the essay, offer your opinion on how effectively the author uses rhetorical strategies to make her/his argument convincing.A possible general outline is provided below.
