Please use my professors feedback, they are down below. I need help on organizing my paper.
So, my primary suggestions are about the organization of the paper, and further integrating your research so that you’re making an evidenced argument about the work. The idea is that, in revising your initial visual analysis and research proposal, you will hone your research questions based on what you’re actually finding, so that the questions are ones that you can really answer and make an argument using evidence. Those questions will take the place normally taken by the thesis of a paper—the end of your introductory paragraph. You’ll have to revise your questions based on the research you actually find, just as you would hone a thesis statement to reflect your argument. I think your strongest possible argument will be about how stylistic and visual elements are used expressively to convey emotion in the work, because that is something that you can back up with visual evidence. If your argument has to do with that the artist may have been feeling himself, you need primary source material to back that up, because it is very difficult to prove. And the more impactful thing is really how the work continues to affect the viewer, so focusing on that seems more doable to me.
I’m also pasting the structure I have in the paper guidelines here:
The final paper will include the following:
An Introduction. This first paragraph should introduce the artwork central to your research, and the essential research question that you are pursuing. (1 paragraph)
Visual analysis: a close visual description of the most important formal elements and how they are utilized to create the work overall. (approx. 300 words / 1-2 paragraphs)
Argument development: use visual evidence and scholarly sources to make an argument or propose a thesis that answers the question you have raised. What can you conclude based on your findings? (approx. 600 words / 2-3 paragraphs) – this part should integrate your scholarly research so it’s clear how your sources are helping you draw conclusions about the piece, in addition to your visual analysis.
Research reflection: a reflection of your search process and the evolution of your research and questioning (approx. 200 words) – this is not a proposal of your research, but a reflection after you have concluded your research and developed your argument about the work.
Conclusion. What questions still remain unanswered? Where are there gaps in the scholarship? What further questions are prompted by your search that would need further research? (1 paragraph)
Annotated bibliography. This is a summary and evaluation of quality sources, at least 3 of which must be peer-reviewed scholarly books or journal articles. (not included in word count)
I have also attached the guide that my professor has provided. Please use the sources in the paper and make sure to type at least 550 words because the final paper has to be at least 1275 words.
