1) Browse a job search website like Indeed.com. Then, list and briefly describe five positions being offered in a field that interests you. What skills, experience, and background does each position require? What (if any) is the salary range listed for each position?

2) Select one of the jobs from your search above. Compose a resume that you would submit to the job if you were applying. Use the information from chapter 15 to help you. You may also choose to visit one of the Career Centers at any of the four main CCAC campuses for help. You are permitted to get help from a Career Center, but I do not want someone else doing the resume for you (that is plagiarism in this case). When you let someone else write your resume, it’s too hard to change or tweak it for another position.

3) Compose a cover letter that you would submit to the job for which you have designed the resume. Do not use a “canned” cover letter. You want yours to stand out. Canned cover letters don’t stand out. How do you make your cover letter stand out? Try to use at least one real example from your experience per body paragraph. For example, if you are applying to be a tattoo artist, talk about how your tattoo artistry has won an award, etc. Do not let someone write the cover letter for you (that is plagiarism in this case).
